US Manufacturers of 35' RIBs with COI

I know of RIBCRAFT and Zodiac that produce larger RIBs for the tour business but are there others?

Seems like a small market here in the states.

Thanks in advance.

Jeez. Do you think there's enough demand for another builder to enter the space? I would like there must be.

Demand is low and margins are low.

Willard Marine makes COI'd RIBS...and Commercial Water Sports does also.

Scarab has 2 sizes of COI'd RIBS that they market under the name of Scarib...although those may be made by Willard now also...

I can see demand being low but not so sure about the margins. 34' RIBCRAFT is 375K, seems okay to me.

Neither look like they make RIBS and I don't see a COI for Scarab.

Certificate of Inspection. A USCG inspector views the entire build process and reviews the engineering drawings to ensure your boat isn't garbage.

Passenger vessels must also be Jones Act compliant.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercha...ne_Act_of_1920

The vessels must be:
  • owned by U.S. companies that are controlled by U.S. citizens with at least 75 percent U.S. percent ownership;
  • at least 75 percent crewed by U.S. citizens;
  • built (or rebuilt) in the United States; and
  • registered in the United States.

Is that why Gemini boats are not sold in the US but instead finished locally and sold as Fluid? I guess they build some pretty large boats to add to your list?

The Jones act is usually only enforced if you are contested by a company with a US built hull. I worked on a US built America's cup yacht; our competitor was able to charterer Il Moro an Italian syndicate yacht, up until we contested it. I've also worked on COI hurricane 733 that was built in B.C.

If you are in a market with no other competitors the coast guard doesn't always care.

We receive requests for COI boats almost once a week. We unfortunately cannot produce a COI boat at the moment.

We do have a Jone's Act compliant 7.6m.
