I just picked up a 6.7m Nautica at a Michigan State police auction, So I'd recommend you start looking at State Auctions in your area for old patrol boats

I totally agree. However in my case, the tubes for the 9m Hurricane custom hull that sold on GSA ran about 18k. 2 ea 200hp motors about 20k. No electronics, console needed repairs plus at least $5k of misc. repairs and customization. Would have pushed the cost easily to $80k.

The Protector I'm getting is super clean, has new electronics, custom center console which sleeps one, perfect condition 2004, tubes are 2 years old in impeccable shape. With original trailer, all for $70k OTD.

I would love to be able to slide the tubes on like on my H630. Maybe I'm making a mistake, since I will run charters I wanted something a bit fancier... I'm thinking with these nearly new tubes, it will last me a while and I will insure it accordingly in case of an accident.

I have never seen a custom center console that would allow you to sleep in it.
Sounds pretty cool.

It’s actually really cool, it’s a big console. It’s not like a large area, but if someone wants to take a nap they can easily do it. I haven’t bought it yet, I might do it this weekend then I’ll take pics.

Don't shy away from ex-military boats. They can be found cheap and brought back to life for a lot less than you think.
I am currently working on a 7 meter boat right now.

I think I located a project 24ft Avon Searider. Converted to outboard power.
Currently has a 300 Yamaha.... I was thinking dual engine. Dual 150 Honda’s. Too much power?

I don't know the specs on that boat but the weight of a 300 hp Yamaha is 562 lbs vs 150 hp Honda at 478 lbs each for a total of 956 lbs. That is 394 lbs of extra engine weight.
I am a big fan of twin screws but I would check the specs on the boat to make sure you will be ok.

If I had a 7M with an outboard, I wouldn’t want anything less than a 250.

I have the exact same boat. She's been a fun one the last three years. You can get 3-4mpg all day long with a Yamaha 150.
