3 wheels on my waggon

I have seen this twice now. Different boats using the road on double axle trailers but only 3 wheels on the trailers, one of the off side wheels were missing. a) Is this legal, b) is it safe and c) would it not wobble like mad?

Is it legal? Dunno, probably not, also depends on setup/weights
Is it safe? See above
Does it wobble, not in my experience

I've always had twin axle trailers for the redundancy factor. As a rule of thumb, I spec up a single axle trailer capable of carrying the intended load & then add another axle, this has saved my hide several times.

forget the questions...
trailer belonged (?) to the two who died in the speedboat accident two days ago. now we learn they were puppy smugglers trying to get to ireland as they knew they couldnt use the ferries as they were being watched. No insurance and one due in court for causing a car crash in which two died last year.

Had a tyre blow out on a brand new twin axle caravan on the M1 many years ago.
First I knew about it was being overtaken by other drivers pointing downwards.
Tyre was completely shredded.
No wobble or other indication that something was wrong.

A couple of years ago we were on an overnight ferry crossing. We had a flat tyre the next morning as we prepared to disembark, we were able to drive off the ferry & change the tyre at our leisure. We'd have struggled with a single axle trailer. Twin axle every time for me.
