Keep talking - I'd almost forgotten why I don't go boating for fun in the winter.

A midge's hair off a yacht, indeed!

Classic G-Wagen
Customise mechanically to your liking (might make boats like good value though)

What's wrong with your Volvo?

you don't go boating in winter because it is rough?

it was 10 degrees yesterday and but for the rough would have been fine, i've had worse weather/waves in middle of summer, unfortunately part of the game aint it.

i can say with 99% certainty if we went on our normal cruise grounds it would have been fine.

the main volvo dealer assures me there is nothing wrong with it is the irony.

without getting into long details the brakes are weird, there is very little pedal feel. i'm waiting to hear about rejecting it but that is another 3 weeks ish away from getting word on that. in mean time i'm going to put another new set of pads on it as cheap to try and see what other car options are out there.

i suspect my rejection request will be denied so just thinking ahead.

The newer A6 allroad 3.0tdi (2012 onwards) has a towing capacity of 2500kg.

I've got one - they're great cars. Road tax on mine is £185 a year. Its 242 BHP and 560Nm of torque so handy enough on the grunt side of things too. Book figures say it should do 45mpg too - I think 35mpg is more realistic from my best efforts so far

My experience of Volvo service was not good.
Is an independent Volvo specialist worth a visit?

Our XC60 had "soft" brakes. I got them to renew the fluid which made them a little sharper, that's over a year ago and I think I just got used to the feel over time. The car stops fine.

Try an Audi if you want to feel the brakes bite.

Very frustrating for you

I could certainly take it to other garages but I've had it in 3 already so it is getting old quick.

I've had the fluid changed, discs, pads, vacuum pump, lines, master cylinder and calipers all checked and they are all within volvo specs.

I firmly believe it is dangerous in current condition but they don't agree.

Presumably you've stopped driving it then? I was confused by your earlier comment about asking permission to reject it - you don't ask you just do it. The argument whether they accept it is different from whether you reject it. If you continue to use it you can't claim to have rejected it, and it undermines your belief it is dangerous.

4x4 to tow 2100kg

Transporter T6 4motion dsg 204ps bi-turbo should fit the bill, 2500kg towing capacity.
Failing that, I have a very nice Disco4 HSE, 62plate 43k miles FSH for sale.

I rejected it weeks ago but it takes about 8 weeks to hear back.

However, I rejected it for a few reasons and not just the brakes. I have rejected 2 cars successfully before so the process isn't new to me unfortunately. I don't recall saying you need permission to reject it? You only need to notify the garage and or finance and go from there.

With my 2 mondeos I rejected and this volvo the finance company are fine to keep driving it as it isn't an overnight process normally and assuming it is safe to do so, your garage and or finance may say otherwise ofcourse. both the mondeos I had previously were about 4 weeks from first letter until they took them back, this finance company say 8 weeks ish given the time of year. you can still drive it if it is safe to do so, which I'm told mines is, that doesn't mean I feel safe driving it though. However, the brakes are not really the reason for rejection, just one of a few niggles. If they come back and say no but we'll look at the outstanding issues again that would do me as the dealer isn't doing much more at this stage.

I'm just annoyed at the whole thing as I've been without it for probably 4-5 weeks in total since I got it with no courtesy car, which is another story itself but alas, arnold clark says it all. I don't belive any of the problems the car has is a big deal to fix, getting it fixed is the issue of course.

I'm waiting to hear back about if the brakes are all volvo items before doing anything else. once I know that I'll take a trip to them for advice if the rejection fails, which I think it will as they have got the heated seats nearly working, the doors are better but not 100% yet, it doesn't pull to the left anymore after they done a full suspension reset.
