7.5mtr Aluminium Beach Launching Trailer

We just built this 7.5mtr RIB and as apart of the contract we built a Beach launching trailer.

This trailer had to have a folding draw bar for stowage in the shed, and the draw bar is removable, two pins either side hold the draw bar to the chassis and before the boat is stowed away the draw bar is shifted to the stern of the boat. When the crew receive a call out, the trailer is backed into the surf and beach launched bow first. Then the boat returns drives up on the plastic skids and is tied off on the guide poles. small caster wheels are now mounted on the two ends of the draw bar and the tractor tows the draw bar from one end of the chassis to the other.

This trailer wieghs in at 1000kgs and the hull 3000kgs and all up towing weight 4000kgs with a 60kg draw bar weight. This trailer is 2.9mtrs wide

Thats one seriously impressive trailer fellas'! What was the thinking behind going for Aluminium rather then steel and having it galvanised? Obviously it weighs less but must have cost loads (and loads) more...

7.5 aluminium trailer

hi a very impressive bit of kit .in the uk the rnli have stations which launch off the beach . so that they can hit the surf live they carry water containers on the trailer which then connects to the engine . the engine is fired up just befor launch.,off goes the boat & the connections are left behind for another day

Very nice design! You must have some very hard packed sand or rock to avoid sinking the tires at the launch area.

It would be great to see a video of a launch and land with this trailer.

Here is an interesting video of RIB launch bow first trailer with a tractor

cheers guys

Markyboyo, Aluminium is our passion :-), we build everything very solidly, so our tough aluminum trailers will out last the galvanizing on a steel trailer. We have great Galv steel trailer manufacturer for our recreational hulls and our alloy version is only slightly lighter, but a lot more expensive!

Paul I have been shown these RNLI trailers this week and they are fantastic looking equipment, and very clever.

Pete - Out of my league too, I just get to play with each one for a little bit. :-)

Slojava, cheers for the vid, yes they are launching on hard packed sand, I wouldn't want to be launching from our west coast beach with loose black iron sand. This boat will be delivered in about a month when the shed alterations are finished so I will try and get some footage at the official launching.
