CONNIX Wireless Magnetic Trailer Lights

Has anyone got any experience of using these on their boat trailer?

https://www.trailertek.com/brand/con...trailer-lights
https://gb.sparex.com/connix-lightin...ic-130977.html

I think they look great?

A mate of mine has a set and loves them - when he remembers to charge them up!

I think there is a rule which suggests if your vehicle is fitted with a 13 pin trailer socket you must show fog and reversing lights on your trailer ,not sure where i got this from !

I like the wireless bit but it would be handy if they were mounted on a board as that would be somewhere handy to put the number plate and it would be easy to attach it all to the trailer.

I imagine I’ll make an integrated package of some sort.

My 33 year old tow vehicle only just has 7 working pins.

Its nothing to do with the tow vehicle or its wiring, its the age & size/type of trailer that determines the lighting requirements. You'll need to look up the requirements for your size & type of trailer as the lighting requirements are different for different scenarios.

I think if Matt gets his seven pins working as they should he will join a select few of trailer tow-ers.

I mean, Ken's right regarding fog light especially. But they do a version that has that, anyway.

But yes, an actual good set of working trailer lights is a rare thing! But I am a bit particular about wanting everything working. Hell - even my boat trailer brakes work properly & well - when you hit the brakes on the LR, you can feel the boat surge slighty and then pull the rig back as the brakes come on. Even the handbrake works! Unbelievable.

Shame the rig is grossly overweight to be legal for overrun brakes.

(Joke. It's not).

I would imagine that a 33 year old LR stops more quickly when assisted by a trailer than it would on its own.

lol. You might think so. But I put new 110 vented disks and calipers on the front and replaced the drums on the rear with disks too. So it stops well. Just not quite in a straight line as the steering wanders......

Back in the day I put a little Mountney steering wheel on my LR to 'dial out' the wandering steering. Everyone must have done the same as I read the other day that the original steering wheels are now quite sought after / difficult to get.

Apologies for the thread creep.

I'm as shocked as anyone if I have 2 indicators two brake lights & side lights & none go out as others illuminate[emoji6] I've owned a 3.5t goods trailer 10 years that I only discovered has reverse lights when I changed cars recently but it turns out they & front & side marker lights are a legal requirement on certain trailers depending on age, size & load capacity etc.
The days of hanging a trailer board on the back of any old trailer & off you go are over unfortunately.
On the other hand if the important lights work your unlikely to have a problem until the shit hits the fan or some smart arse traffic cop wants an easy target.

TBF, when I tweak the steering box a bit it’s fine. But a bit worn now and due to be replaced soon

I believe boat trailers don't require the front/side position lamps.

You can believe what you want but its not as simple as you seam to think. A good guide here
https://www.trailertek.com/trailer-l...20per%20minute.
Doesnt mention any special rules for boats, thats not to say they aren't a special case but most new trailers you see all seem to have side markers etc built in.
I'm relieved if I have two reds & two yellow flashies on the back but no doubt some folk will want to dot the I's& cross the t's
