The winch is the weak spot, but it's 18" higher than the battery. The winch itself is a big standard trailer winch with a sealed (ish) motor bolted to it. The connector is an Anderson connector. I reckon the winch will take a dousing, but not a submersion. If the water is that high, the winch getting wet is the least of my problems😳

I wouldn't be too worried about the winch getting a dousing or even submerged, it's only when the motors get hot you need to worry n I can't see the amount of winching you'll need to do will get the motor very hot, I'd be more concerned with the corrosion of the winch casing etc, but after see the winches at Ty Calch following a couple of seasons constant use, I don't think you've much to worry about PD

Yup👍 I stripped all the casings off & gave everything a good going over with Metect, I'm not worried😄. The battery box is way over the top, but I needed some kind of box & it was as easy to make a good 'un as a bodge job. The box is also easily removed, so I can put it in the car if I know it'll get a dunking at Ty Calch for example.

Electric winch
yeah, best to hide it in the motor at Ty Calch, or Chris n Tom will be bolting it to the tractor while you're out enjoying yourself 😂

Ok ordered it today. My boat is 250 miles away though so I'm going to have to take the winch with me and fit it when I use the boat. My 12V supply will come from my tractor, and I was just going to use croc clips onto its battery, Can any of you boys tell me if I need any special plugs to connect to the winch ?

The TW 9000 .. its a bit overkill for this boat, but I can keep it for my next which might be a little bigger.

Same as us. It has Anderson connector at winch. I sat mine up with direct feed from X5 battery with the cables included. I leave the cable in a boot compartment when not in use and just plug in when needed. Hope this helps.

In that case, as Billy says, it's a doddle. You get the cables already made up with lugs on one end & the Anderson on the other. Just replace the lugs with croc clips👍

Well Its certainly quite a substantial unit ! Will deffo haul in my wee rig, probably with a rake of fat beer swilling divers on it at the same time too ... Won a watch with Amazon also, I needed it for the 22nd July .. delivery was quoted as being 18th which I paid extra for, to get it in time. After it failed to show up on the day, and the online delivery estimate then shifted to the 1st of August ... I emailed yesterday (19th) moaning I'd paid extra for faster delivery, so yesterday they refunded the entire shipping costs to my card, afterwhich it arrived later that afternoon ... shhhhhhhhsh

Normal shipping is about £50, I paid £75 for faster shipping which made the total on the card about £500 odds, with the refund it will make it £425 .. but then we are post brexit and I haven't been paying attention to whether exchange rates have had an immediate effect on any USA purchases, as I bought it a few days after the vote, The web site had it at $439. But anything imported after taxes etc .. from the US tends to be in pounds what its listed there at in Dollars Ive found ?
