Galvanising Spray on Trailer

My trailer although functionally fine is looking a little tired. Last year I changed most of the nuts and bolts for stainless which improved the appearance markedly, but the surface finish looks and is old.

Has anyone used galvanising spray? This stuff while not cheap is over 99% zinc so it must have good cathodic protection but would it look naff? How would it wear?

I'm sure not all of these sprays are equal. I got a can cheap from Lidl or Aldi the other day but I would use the above as it's the market leader.

If you’ve not isolated the stainless fastners from the galvanising, it will make things worse. You can touch up galvanising with galv paint, but you need a high zinc percentage paint.

As Dave says, I've tried the sprays and don't rate them for longevity if I were to do mine I would give micaceous iron oxide a go used on pylons bridges etc

Ps I don’t think the paint you linked to is 99% zinc, that’s not the way I read it, but I could be wrong.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel has an excellent resistance to oxidation (rust)
It has a very low resistance to galvanic action (the corrosion due to being in contact with a dissimilar metal)

In a boat trailer you are better off with galvanised bolts.

Galv paint is a waste of time and money in those circumstances.Wash Rince Dry and Corrosion Guard is your best Bet.
Even with good maintenance and parts replacement Trailers no matter what care regime you use are ...after a certain age and usage ...ultimately consumables...
