Bigmuz7: I agree with what you say about ALKO brakes & cables. When I replaced them on a 1000kg axle a few years ago, they were a lot more expensive than other manufacturers' shoes & cables.

Before and after. Extreme trailers had one off the shelf to fit.

That really shouldn't be the case. Alko should be around the same price as Knott.
A 2051 axle set (two pairs of shoes and two sets of springs - enought to replace everything inside the drums, that usually need replacing) should be around £45 - £50 and stainless steel brake cables around £15 each.

Twas a few years ago, maybe the gap has closed. The shoes cost around £50 and the std cables were around £15 each, whereas Knott shoes were £25ish and cables around £10 each.
Broke my heart at the time!

Well I'm minded to dig out the invoice actually because I remember it being particularly bad as I buy parts for lots of other plant trailers that dont cost as much, and the ALKO stuff didnt look anything special in comparison, and .... for another good reason, in that, I never fitted any of the stuff ! as the boat suffered a transom failure at the same time, so I still have all the bits and should flog them off .... Dunno if the dealer added silly margins ?
BTW .. DHD .. can we see a picture of those axle units, because that sounds like decent money for something so substantial

I've had indespension trailers with Knott running gear & currently have an SBS with AlKo gear. I've not noticed any appreciable difference in price for the cables & shoes. The sealed bearings on the AlKo hubs are more expensive though.
