I may have been unlucky then but none of my 7 pin round stuff has ever been well sealed. I don't know if the climate has an effect but things are generally cold soggy where I am, which may accelerate corrosion.

Phil you hit the nail on the head, It was those constant wet drizzly days days which brought me to living over here. Working mainly in the building trade outside for so many years was quite depressing.
Its funny how even though we do beach driving and river crossings etc we rarely hear of vehicles with rusting problems from underneath as we used to in the UK. I must say that I mainly do freshwater river crossings and do hose underneath after trips along beaches. So those round or flat pin ones we use may not any good over there.

Just fitted submersible LED's & side markers to my trailer anyone know the law on triangle reflectors whether they need to be fitted or Not! I've noticed some haven't got them fitted to there trailers ?

Yes they are required.
The number of works vehicles with no lights, dodgy lights, no number plate, wrong plate you see on the road makes me think most of the time you won't get tugged. I suspect the issue becomes when someone wants to coz you grief you are giving them a free invite to do so..

Yup! I need them on anyway I was a bit worried they might catch the tubes when launching but think they'll be ok just waiting for waterproof connectors to arrive so I can complete the job 👍

One of the HGV fitters at work seems to think if you have built in reflectors into your trailers lights they'll be fine you don't need to fit triangle ones ?

Approval Mark III or IIIA are triangular. You can get light clusters with triangles in them.
At least some of these are presumably marked with the E III or E III A marking Is that not what the actics use?

Hi , joining the debate late but I have a problem , I want to fit led lights to my trailer but I've been told by my Toyota dealer I have cam bid connections to my lights and they won't work with led lights , can any one help .thanks

You can get CAN BUS LED systems. Basically your Toyota sends a very low voltage & current through the filament of the bulb even when it is off - like you would with a multimeter to check the resistance. If the resistance is in the right range the car is happy. If it is too high or virtually zero the car's brain thinks there is a fault with the lights and probably puts a light on on your dashboard to tell you and possibly also upsets other lights and certainly the indicators.
The solution is a small resistor somewhere in the circuit. You can buy LED bulbs with a resistor in them or you can add a seperate resistor elsewhere in the circuit. If you are simply swapping out filament bulbs the easiest solution is to replace them with an LED with the resistor in it (Guess what thats more ££).
Googling CAN BUS RESISTOR should find you something that can be wired into the LED Circuit.

I had very mixed results with the early (so called) Water Proof LEDs ..having several sets fail.
Not the best thing when you're a long way from home at night!
Seems like the later ones are a lot better now,and having been offered a pair of new Sealed "Guardian" lights at a knock down price I'm going to give it another go
Any quick fix mounting kits out there Chaps???

As for plugs, the 7 pin design is terrible and unreliable. I've upgraded all of our trailers and cars to 13 pin which all include o-ring seals on the plugs and caps. Hi Phil, why is the trailer board not legal attached to the a-frame? That is what I do and don't think there is a problem. Heaven forbid if I am not legal on the road as there may be a problem with insurance if I was involved in a prang.

Afaik there a regs stating how far off the ground the lights have to be & how far from the extreme end of the trailer/load. Fitting to the "A"frame would normally put the lights too high
.....sh1t happens.......
