New car.... Land rover
Right here goes. We like land rovers and will prbaly stick with them but also like the New jeep grand cherokee. We have a discovery 4 at the moment and its a great all rounder but its very expensive to run and look after, is quite a big car and is too common plus I dont like its looks anymore. Now woyld it be silly to get a new Defender 110 (love this car) or wait till the new discovery sport comes out at the end of the year. Help!

The new Grand Cherokees seem to be pretty good. I have several customers with them who are very happy and report good performance and MPG.
With each generation pf Land Rover they seem to be distancing themselves from the rugged work horse that was the making of the company originally. The next version of the Defender will be the end of that tradition.
Whilst the new stuff is very high tech, it is also a nightmare when it goes wrong and horrifically expensive. I have stopped at vehicles from the noughties and earlier. Nothing new appeals.

Yes well thats the idea to get a 110 before they chjange in it late 2015/16. That will be ruined and the brand will be 'city before country'. The thing is that the car will do a few long jpurneys every month due to work and the 110 is definitely not the mosy comfortable car making me consider waiting for the stupidly named freelander replacement 'discovery sport'.
In response to the twisted idea, absolutely awesome cars but it looks expensive!

Remove the factory-fitted bulkhead, install a half-bulkhead, a pair of alcantra covered Recaros and relaaaax. Oh, a 1000w amp, a pair of 6 x 9s and a subwoofer will do justice to your tunes coz if you're buying new you won't have that wonderful Td5 soundtrack to listen to!

Buy a 110 and tear the belt loop of every pair of trousers you wear getting into it, on the stupid door catch. But that wont bother you as much as Defender elbow where you are constantly banging your elbow on the ill fitting doors that don't seal properly.
Give me a series 1 88 anyday or a 101.

I'm going soft in my old age, like my heated seats in winter and climate in summer
I do love Landies, even took a 90 to Gib a few years ago, shame it got a bit sunburnt
I was really just trying to point out that a Defender is nothing like a Disco, and it could be a bit of a shock to the OP to start using one as a daily driver.

The defender sould be a downgrade in terms of driving but its just a quality car. I also like the evoque if you get the look right but uts expensive and small for the price. Maybe the jeep.....

I seem to remember the Jeeps having a lot lower tow limit, I remember a guy having to get rid of his transporter trailer as his new jeep was under the limit.
