Parking a car & trailer on a road
I want to Launch from Salcombe. Launching is not a problem but all the parking is booked up a week at a time long in advance. And I don't have the money to buy a week's parking on the off chance its going to be nice weather.
I've been thinking about driving to the outskirts of the town where there is unrestricted parking and getting a bus or taxi back to the slip.
If I Park in a sensible place on a housing Estate. A spot which isn't a nuisance to anyone with my trailer hitched to the car and with a wheelclamp and hitchlock on for the day. Say 10am to 5pm. Is that legally ok please?

Used to be a boat trailer parked on a residential street near me, chained to lamp post, for months at a time seemed legal

Quote:
Caravans and trailers
A vehicle towing a caravan or trailer can park on the highway as long as they are not contravening a traffic order, causing an obstruction or creating a danger or nuisance to the public. We do not permit the storage of caravans or trailers on the highway and may issue a notice and subsequently remove the caravan or trailer. The police may also act if any vehicle is presenting a hazard or obstruction.
We can only enforce parking restrictions (issue a Penalty Charge Notice) against registered vehicles when parked in contravention. This would include any caravan or trailer they were towing. Under civil parking enforcement powers, no action can be taken against an unattached caravan or trailer.

Whats the difference between parking and storage i wonder

Best thing is to park it wherever you like.
If you get a fine.
It was illegal.

I'd read that as it needs to be attached to the car
