There are some "grey zones" for these number plates with limited validity.
They are meant for national use only but are accepted by many European countries .
If you asked here in Germany 3 authorities you will get 3 different answers .
I went through this a few times .
The same with registering UK trailers here .
The last trailer I bought in 2013 in the UK was from 2006 .
You can have trouble with TÜV but mostly because nobody wants to deal with it cause it's not quick and easy "standard" work .
If you find an interested engineer who is not afraid to go the extra mile you can still get the trailer registered .
