The drawbar thing is interesting (in a nerdy, I want to pull a big boat kind of way ). Most people define it as the start of the A frame shape, on my trailer, it accounts for nearly 3m alone. Caravans dont have big A frames, but they do have huge rear overhangs which allows some pretty big rigs.

Hmmm, so my Hobby 720 caravan (7.58m body length plus A frame) would be OK?

Yep, as long as you arnt towing it with a commercial vehicle and you have the full licence.

The length of the TRAILER can be a maximum of 7 metres, this does not include the drawbar or coupling, plus you are allowed a rear overhang of 2 metres (you can actually go to 3 metres but you need an illuminated marker board).

In practice, as long as your overall (vehicle + trailer) length does not exceed 18.75m (the maximum length of a vehicle & trailer before you become a abnormal load) you are unlikely to have any problems.

Thanks for the clarification. I had previously been told that it was:
"overall body length not exceeding 7 metres (excluding drawbar and coupling)"
So had thought that mine with a body length of 7.58m was just over the legal max!

Others have said that the overhang refers to the removable load/goods being carried on a trailer and that it doesn't apply to caravans.

I think it's time to buy an 19m tape measure and go looking for a bigger RIB...
