Self build trailers

Anyone up to speed on the latest rules and regs.

I assume it's ok to build your own, but are there any standards that they have to be built to?

This would be for own use, not for selling to the public.

best thing to do before you start is buy an old trailer with similar weight ability , then refurbish ,doesn't matter how old it is as long as it has a relevant plate , ........Bit like triggers refurbished Broom ,,,,, new head and new handle

Or just buy a trailer data plate stamp the details on and the date of manufacture making it pre whatever the date was the rules changed to type approval. Then it's an old trailer you refurbished!
