Trailer axle - cost effective replacement?

Hey all. Following on from my previous post I’m at peace with requiring a new axle.
I have an SBS trailer but am not a fan of the one shot nuts etc - maintenance seems harder work than my old indespension trailer.

Has anyone modified an old caravan axle to fit their trailer or do I just have to suck it up and spend £500-£700 on a boat trailer specific axle?

Cheers

Peak dynamics are probably the best bet & will offer you whatever bearing system you prefer, I'm with you on not wanting sealed for life, i just read your that as "unservicable". No reason why a caravan axle wont work if the dimensions & brackets will fit

Generally caravan axles will not work with a boat trailer chassis without modification/fabrication to allow U bolt fixings

Peak dynamics seem to be most competitive on price however there is a lead time for manufacturing.

SBS have stock of most axles and they usually give a discount if you collect, there prices include U bolts, washers and nuts

Measure twice!! Before buying

Peak supplied a new axle for my trailer. Total including hubs was £390.

If you go with Peak they give you 60mm box section rated for 750kg. If you ask for 70mm section it gives you better suspension, looks less weedy and they didn't charge any extra.
