Trailer Bogie

Hi,

I am looking to buy a trailer bogie so that my boat can be hand balled on it's trailer down a slip & in to the water. Reason being this slip has no vehicular access.
Anyone know where to look?

Can you explain exactly what you mean by "trailer bogie"?? Do you mean a wheel for the hitch end of the trailer, aka a jockey wheel?

Or is it a 3rd wheel mounted on a spare axle hub fitted to the front of the trailer which is used by some for rougher ground?

Or maybe a combination of the two?

I have a vision of something with a hitch and a coople of decent wheels with a short-ish "drawbar" with two handles to allow you to steer & pull it?

Any decent blacksmith / fabricator should be able to weld something up. Getting it galvanised might be a bit more fun.

Could you build somehting from decent bits of timber?

It was like a bike forks that went into a tube with a long tee bar handle so you could launch by hand

I tried to launch by hand and nearly killed myself as the trailer went for it. Unless there is a recovery strap connected to the car it doesn't get to move.
Also beware of dodgy welds on a trailer mover as I had mine fail going down the drive and if it hadn't been for the chock dropped under the wheel it would have put the boat through my front porch. Unfortunately the trailer pivoted on the restrained wheel and the draw bar mowed me down. Ripped my jeans open and took the top of my trainer off plus buggered foot and knee. Lesson learned - become good at reversing the car and trailer down and round a corner!
