Trailer parking?

Having used the boat a couple of times this week has reminded me to ask a question that I'm sure fellow trailer RIB owners can answer:

Why do a large proportion of owners park their tow vehicles with the empty trailer backed towards a wall, bank or obstruction?

Probably to stop it from being nicked or at least to make it a bit more difficult!

Hi Andy

Space permitting, (the trailer for Gwenn is just shy of 8m) I prefer to do exactly that in order to help prevent the trailer from being nicked. In reality, unless i have reversed it alongside other vehicles then it would still be possible to drag it out sideways but i suppose it might deter an oportunistic thief.

I always keep the Knott hitch locked onto the towball also.

OK, that is what I thought was the probable reason for parking the combo that way around.

My thinking is that if I can't "box" my trailer in then surely your giving the pikeys some cover to work on your ball hitch?
