Trailer service advice please

I only used my boat trailer 3 times a year ago when I bought the boat. Since then the boat
has stayed in the water & the trailer (an Indespension Coaster Swing) has sat out in the open air. I plan to trailer the boat again soon & realise I'll need to shove some air in the tyres. Does anyone know - what pressure should the tyres be and what else to I need to do to the trailer for safe use. I've got the numberplate board with lights on & the electricity
cable ready but not sure what else needs doing. Thanks, Ivan

65 psi on a roller coaster 5

I'd check /replace the bearings (its not a bad idea to swap the bearings for new ones and keep th old ones as spares, replace the split pins holding the taper bearings with new stainles omes.

waterproof grease any nipples particularly if the trailer is braked make sure you keep the coupling drawer bar greased. Also look at the brake drum spring and mechanism

Rollers have a really good inspection of the split pins that fasten the rollers to the shafts, replace if they look at all iffy

Fit the \Bearing buddies

Fair enough mate, might look into what mine are again too. I'm only running 8ply 155/12's with 30 in them.

The maximum pressure marked on my trailer tyres is 65psi but I was dubious whether that was really needed. Found this which for my tyres/speed/load suggests ~45psi.

If you look at the table on the link in my post above, it suggests 90psi for your tyres (or the closest to them - 155/70 x 12)

Flaming hell! I'm only used to standard tyres. Never thought 8ply tyres would have so much of an increase in pressure! Just had a look at the tyre wall and it doesn't state max PSI which is odd. Just that the max weight.

Yep - I thought tyres HAD to carry max. pressure rating.

Also see http://www.tyresafe.org/data/files/TyreSafeCaravan.pdf. I can't see your tyres (is 8-ply the same as "reinforced") but this table suggests rather lower pressure for (for example) my tyres - 175 x 13. I'm not sure of exact weight of my rig but guessing not more than 1200kg. So even at only 25psi the weight rating is 800kg/tyre, which is comfortable margin. Have to say I'm a bit confused now.

well i'm nearly embarrassed. I'll be busy removing the trailer spotting badge of my anorak (i clearly don't deserve it) as soon as I've finished this post.

50 psi on a coaster swing apparently it's a 10inch 6 ply

I used to have a trailer that ran on low-profile tyres that needed to be kept inflated to 95psi. If I let the pressure drop the tyres overheated quite quickly when trailing.
