Trailer service questions?

Hi all, I have finally got my new boat at home now on the supplied trailer. The boat is on an Indespension Roller Coaster 3 braked trailer, and for my own piece of mind I'd like it servicing at some point in the near future. So I have a couple of newbie questions:

Does anyone know what a full service for this would be (approx/ball park will do)?

Does a service replace the winch strop as a matter of course, or would I need to ask for this separately/do it myself?

Does a service usually get done with the boat on or off the trailer? (I would expect it to be easier with the boat off it, but do dry-stacks do temporary storage to allow this)?

Thanks in advance!

Ben at Compass Trailers posts on here at Trailer Guy. He is the forum's resident trailer guru, and is local to you. He's an obvious person to ask those question to.

To answer your other points - I wouldn't be surprised if the average trailer centre didn't even check the winch works, never mind replace the strop. I'm sure TrailerGuy will replace if you ask him.

I seem to recall that many places won't take a trailer for a service with a boat on it. Some will. You'd like to think that meant they serviced the rollers etc - but I suspect they are more focussed on the road legal/running parts. I may be wrong. Again I am sure there are people who will check them as standard or do that for a little extra.

Hi Ovey

To answer your questions:

I charge £70 for a full, mobile, service on a braked, single axle trailer.

Checked, but not replaced. If its looking tired and frayed then you'll be advised (you get a copy of a full check sheet with every service).

99% of my services are carried out with the boat on the trailer.

If you've any questions, or want to carry the service out yourself and need a little advice, feel free to drop me a line.

All the best, Ben

PS. Steve, you're very kind, as ever.

Hi Trailer Guy, that sounds very reasonable to me! Thanks for the info.

I'm not sure when I'd like it doing, but probably before Christmas. Can I PM you in a few days to arrange something?

Of course, no problem at all. Gives me another reason not to venture north of the wash...

Hi Portholme

The majority of the south coast Sir. Can go further afield, if it ties in with other work though.
