trailer width on UK roads?

There is of course the "boat" clauses that (for example) allow stuff with the lights that you couldn't get away with on a "normal" trailer......

Not sure how the overall dims are affected by the "boat rules"- Mine's restricted to 2.1M absolute max width to get through the garage door........

only on my first cuppa so a bit grumpy, just use what ever trailer fits your boat, if you get stopped you know it's the wrong trailer, i've only ever been stopped twice for trailer related issues in over 35 years, plod won't want to do the paperwork now days, god knows you can run someone over and only get a fine, whats the worst they can do to you, if you're unhappy towing leave it in the garden

It's 305mm (old foot, 304.8mm equivalent).

Having looked again it appears to me to be the 305mm [as above] JW up to a max overall of 2.9 meters?

I believe that to be correct. 2.9mtrs being the maximum width for the load in normal use and a trailer maximum width of 2.55mtrs. Unless there has also been a new ruling, a 2.55mtrs trailer width and overhangs of 305mm are not permissible.

That is correct, 2.55m maximum trailer width, 305mm maximum overhang each side and 2.9m maximum width overall. This can be got around by submitting an abnormal load notification every time you move, but its a bit of a pain.

Remember if you go abroad though, 2.55m is the maximum overall width in most European countries. Any wider and you will need special permits, signage, lighting, etc. Above 3m and you will need an escort!

I think without air in the tubes you will not have any problem. When i was in uk in may this year to pickup my boat the customer in Dover just asked for a paper on the boat. They did not even walk out from the glassbox to check the registration or anything on the boat or trailer.

Check so you have alla paper on the trailer with registration etc. Uk have quite different rules on trailers than rest of Europe i think.
