Transom Ubolt

I'm getting a new trailer for my F-RIB next week. I want to add U bolts to the transom for tie down straps. Does it matter whether they are positioned horizontally or vertically.?

In my opinion vertical as better for strapping down.

The other, less holes option, is to use eye bolts. M10 eye bolt to outer and eye nut inner with large penny washers to spread load. Fit them wide and high on transom so also good attachment points for towing bridle etc.

PS: Also use a marine sealant.

Thanks. The reason I asked is that I have ready attached them horizontally. Having watched some videos they all seem to be vertical. I'll reposition them & fill the holes with epoxy & gelcoat.

OK, didn’t realise already fitted.

Don’t do that. They’ll be fine horizontal for strapping down such a light boat.

Yeah, should have said that I have already fitted them! Does that include having 37KG outboard attached?
