traveling with RIB on trailor
One of our friends, at the stand of Mecanorem Trailors in Salon de Paris (....)has heard a presentator affirm that it is strictely forbiden to have petrol in the tank of the boat during travels by road!
We think that that is a stupidity: do you have same laws in yours Countries ? So, if I use Tizzano slipway in sud Corsica, I must pull to Bonifacio, 50 miles, to buy petrol !!!!!!!

Assuming that you’re also including built in tanks in that scenario, I don’t see how it is workable. At the end of the day, you recover your boat, what do you do with any fuel that’s left in the tank??
If it’s only portable tanks, then it’s workable.

Did the presenter own a fuel Pontoon by any chance?
Transport of fuel is a massively misunderstood process both legislatively and enforcement, storage another issue.....

No, of course,he owns not
The french (and italian)laws, that seem the same translating word for word, seems permit to have 60 liters # 15 gallons, in tank included OR mobile and jerry cans, that containers must be specialy concepted for petrol transport and wear marks from EU AND United Nations!....... Of course, it is stupid to full the tanks when you go from Glasgow or Trondjeim to Sicily or Greece.... but when you have a slipway 5 or 6 miles from your house and do not know haw many nautical ski hours want you passengers....
I hope you understand ùmy English!!!! he is surely terrifiant!
Have All a merry week end! bye!

Hi Aningoul,
I think it is EU legislation focussed on carrying fuel in portable containers - e.g 5l plastic cans / 20l jerrycans.
It doesn't apply to integral fuel tanks - else you could not tow a car - or carry it on the back of a breakdown truck!
