UK TRAILER for 9.0m RIB

Hi All,

I am new in this forum and looking for a quality trailer for a 9.0m Rib between 2.500 - 3.000 kg with swing beam for easy launching etc.

I want as many rollers as possible in order to spread the Rib's weight and not stress the hull but at the same time I dont want to spend a fortune.

In general the use will be minimal (say 1 klm from parking to launch) apart from the first long trip which will be abt 4000 klm.

Please to hear if you guys have some suggestions based on experience.

I would go for a CLH trailer.

They are heavy but very strong. The 3 axles give you a massive safety margin. I used one with my 8.8m RIB. To be honest though the trailer is a bit on the big size - will cope with boats up to about 11m but it means you can use it for so many things and it will really hold it's money.

Other good UK makes are De Graaff and SBS.

The three axel is illegal in Greece where the trailer will head to and therefore is out of question.

I have found also the foll and I dont know if someone had an experience with them:

Also do you believe the flushing kit / system is worthwhile or a good wash after every launch is sufficient?

Must have shrunk in the wash!!!

Overall length was the same as an artic - width is 9' 2" - a lorry is 8' 6"!!!

The CLH trailer was a tad too big for my boat - but only a bit.

We fitted out a 9.5 m Humber Offshore in Cyprus and Elxis Trailers in Greece made us a fantastic trailer. Twin axles, hydraulic disc brakes and a capacity of circa 3000kg. I also had one for my 6.3m Ocean Pro and it was a really good trailer.
Elxis don't feature a 3 tonne capacity trailer on their website but were quite happy to build one for our needs.
Suggest you have a look, if you have not already done so!!

Thank for your answer, I know Elxis and Emilios in Greece are Really good trailers h/ever my problem is how I will transport the RIB in Greece. I believe it is a bit dumm to drive all the way from Greece with an empty trailer and drive back loaded..

It is more a question of cost than the search of the best.. To be honnest I dont even need a trailer with brakes as with time and salt water it is for sure that any type of breaks will give up..and the route of such size would be limited 1klm from the parking to the launch ramp.

I need sthg which will make the 4-5.000 klm trip and then just stay in a decent state avoiding as much as possibl;e corrosion etc. I generally take good care of my toys.

I can confirm the ruggedness of CLH trailers. Speak with Chris or Andrew.
Trailer lengths made to any measurement, axles - if twin axles is all that's allowed then specify twin 1800Kg axles. They will put on as many roller bunks as you wish. We tend to ask for 4 sets with our longer boats.
We regularly tow between Wales, Hull and Scotland - never been a problem.
Prices are very competitive

I have no association with the above company other than as a customer.

I have bought 2 boat trailers from them and both have been fantastically designed and built. Their prices are also very good.

Alexis , surely you realise driving 4000km whilst towing 3.5 tonnes on an unbraked trailer is

a. Illegal,

b. Extremely dangerous

Unless of course your vehicle is a full size truck.

Sure yes I agree, I just mentioned that because all breaking systems tend to break (seriously) down even after carefull fresh water washing and may cause problems.

Of course I would do that only if the boat had to be towed fro a couple of klm.. obviously such a trip cannot be done safely without a breaked trailer!!

Thx for pointing that out if I was unclear.

You're welcome.

As you know one of the companies you mentioned in Greece is marketing trailers with all stainless brakes with 5 yr warranty, and sealed/ oil bath axle shafts. They are of course VERY expensive.

Or you can buy one from the many mentioned here and when back home, leave towing to the marina staff and remove the brakes
