technically yes. I note they do have a number plate light - so it would "just" be a case of mounting the plate in the right area

Aye - but unfortunately some lines of work seem to attract those sorts of folk! The real issue is likely to be if you get stopped at a checkpoint with a VOSA inspector, and a police officer who wants to book you for something.

Yep. VOSA have been a nightmare since they became self-funding.

so how do they do that then ?(perhaps we should start another thread because this is an undeniable problem) is it that the more impounds or PG9's they issue thereby forcing re tests etc ? the more they earn.. ....but on this topic,.. trailers have no test .... yet ...this is gonna be another can of worms

I think so-I'm not too up on the mechanics of it all.
I've noticed a lot more checks going on since they did though. The trouble is, a lot of VOSA inspectors don't have a clue what they're doing.
They can still issue a PG9 or GV9 on a non mot-able trailer.

Agreed .. I had one on a trailer that had no brakes because it was being drawn by a tractor. It was being used to haul a digger, but was deemed to fall under the 'construction in use' regulations , and should have had coupled brakes etc, so it got put off the road, where as if it was a farmer hauling the digger .. no problem

Why in this Country can't we have laws that make it easy to comply with, rather than the jumble of ambiguous crap that is impossible to comply with even with the best intentions

Because Government don't think before they mess and they never ask the people who actully have a clue what to do.
Nuff of that from me though or I'll have to send us bilgebound.

I think in the case I outlined above it was largely driven by Customs & Excise would you believe.. In that for quite some time it has been a problem of farmers adding another string to their bow by buying a digger and hiring them selves out as ground workers, since farming wasnt bringing in the dough. They'd use tractors to haul their kit, but, as it wasnt agricultural use, should have been using white diesel, and have an operators licence etc etc, and HMRC decided (quite rightly IMO) that they should be paying the full tax on the road fuel, if it wasnt for an agricultural use exclusively. After that .. all the other rules followed
The old red diesel conundrum eh ?.. as has now also been brought up to date within the boating business .... I wonder how long it will be before I get banged to rights for running my workshop heater on red , or my pressure washer or I need to declare my heater as Statutory off road

Watch this space-I start driving red/kero/heating diesel tankers in 2 weeks so I should have a bit more warning than most...
