Anyone know local Solent or Southampton based weighbridges? Are they costly? Closest I can see is lymington

Google a search for quarries. All roadstone (not monumental) quarries have a calibrated weighbridge. Give them a call to make sure that they are OK to carry out a 'public weighs', most are. It should be no more than £7-8 and they'll give you a ticket with a gross weight on it. A smaller operation may scribble your weight on a scrap of paper for free or a small 'drink'. It costs them nothing.

You'll find them all over the place - scrap yards, quarries, refuse recyclers, animal feed wholesalers. I generally find that they charge 5-10 euros here.

There are public weigh bridges around the place. https://www.gov.uk/find-weighbridge I believe it is acceptable to drive to your NEAREST public weighbridge even if overloaded (although I guess if it is obviously dangerously so that may be a problem).

Give the local council a ring.
Got mine done at one of their 'civic amenities' sites (for anyone in Leicester that's the one at Whetstone) & IIRC cost me a fiver.

Solent Body Builders (Segensworth) have a weigh bridge which I've used previously. It was a while ago, but may be worth a phone call.

I contacted my local council for weigh bridge charges a few years ago and was given a price of about £20 for Gloucester
