1986 Avon supersport 4.0 re-purpose

Hello. I just bought an avon supersport 4.0. suzuki 40hp. Pretty good deal, needs a bit of work. The boat is serviceable, needs a new transom, a new floor, (already built) some patches, and re-glueing in a few places. by far, the transom is the most time consuming, and extensive repair the boat needs. The motor needs new controls and a steering cable. (already got those.) here is my original post
http://www.rib.net/forum/f64/my-intr...som-60984.html
I am starting the transom tomorrow, already removed it, as you can see. It is completely rotten, glad I am doing it this way. the harder way, but the correct way. I have a few questions for the experts. Why is the transom "bent/curved"? Do I need to build an exact facsimile of this bent transom? Or, can I just build a transom out of a couple layers of 3/4" marine ply and call it good?

I don't think the transom is supposed to be bent?

you are correct. I can't believe the weight of the motor bent the transom like this. crazy. I guess it being so wet and soft for so long...("that's what she said")
It looks like a professional bend made by a craftsman. I am so glad to be rebuilding this.

recommended adhesive for transom ply?

Hello, I am using 3/4" marine ply, two layers, for the transom. I am going to use this for the sandwich. I have used it before, and it is tenacious. Any thoughts?

On-line Product Catalog:Â*3Mâ„¢ Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 Fast Cure White, PN06520, 1/10 Gallon Cartridge, 12 per case

Isn't that something like Sikaflex 291? I've never heard of it used to bond transoms together. Personally I'd use a clamp and epoxy resin.
