Yep that was my thought. Keep to a brand that sells well used and at least has the Honwave dealer backup.

Re your 9.8 and getting on the plane. Have you read my write up on our new Mariner 9.9... that easily planes the Aerotec 2-up with loads of kit and I reckon the Honwave hull might be easier to push.

And our joint weight is 27 stone which I see is same as yours.
