30hp too much for aerotec 380?

Seen a local aerotec with a 2010 30hp merc on it, is that bad news for the transom only being rated to 25hp?

30 HP engines are usually same detuned 25 HP versions on most modern engine brands, same size and weight, so not really an issue.

Just inflate all air chambers to factory stated working presssure to avoid transom ungluing & stress issues if liking doing extreme boating. If scary ride, you can always throttle less or limit the throttle range internally.

BTW, same weight on both 25/30, 2 & 4 strokes engines.

Happy Boating

This guy is getting desperate to sell.

2006 30hp, 2005 aerotec 380, 2005 trailer (with good suspension).

he is now dropped the price to $1400 GPP.

I know this isnt the ideal fishing diving boat, but darn thats cheap, considering its in excellent condition.

Buy it then, I've had no problems fishing from the Bombard. You can always swop motor or boat later if you find something more suitable.

????

An object is only worth what some one is prepared to pay for it. At the end of the day it's you who has to decide if something is worth the money.

Hi SpearRib

Im with Stray .. only you know what is a bargain to yourself ... and you said "That's darn cheap" so not sure why you are asking ?

You know the aussie market better than most on this forum.. so go by your own experience. You have been looking for a while so should know cost by now ?

Sorry if that reply is not intellectual enough

Thank you Gurnard, fortunately the 12 Oclock outage prevented my reply being posted; it wasn't as politely worded as yours.

no need to be defensive/precious i was being sincerely complimentary by saying intellectual as thats the flip side of looking at it, which most wouldnt. most want to know what others pay for items.

so im also asking what they generally sell for as that "market" value is also as important as what "I" think its worth.

Final reply; There is no "universal market" value.

Brand new in the UK the Bombard, Outboard and trailer would cost about £6k to buy new today, so somewhere around £2k is what I'd be looking to pay for an 8 year old very good condition outfit. ( others might think more or think less)
In the USA I'd probably be paying $6k new, $2k used, as these things tend to be cheaper there.
I've no idea what such a package would cost new In Australia, or it's resale value. You live there, you've been looking for an outfit for some time, you should be telling me.

Finally if you are making a joke use the Smilies so everyone knows.

Most of the members on the site are UK based, our experience of values is irrelevant to your geographical location.

However if the rig was in the UK it would be priced around £2-3000, with the biggest chunk being the engine.

Individual values:
Aerotech: £600 -£1000
Trailer: £200 -£400
Engine: £1000-£2000 (Its an odd engine for sibs, 4 stroke and short shaft and is too heavy to be transportable)

i very rarely locally see 380s sold where i am at or futuras, mostly used cheapo imports like promarines etc.

thanks landlocked for answering the question. that gives me something to go off.

based on that both seem to be a fair price. the 380 would be much easier to transport when we cant trail a boat, but the flip side it wont be as structural or easy to use for spearing etc. the main thing that concerns me with the 380 is the engine, ill take a compression tester with me and if all looks good ill likely buy it.

i would be more concerned with the weight of a 30 four stroke on a 3.8 sib if your using it on your own .mine has a 25 two stroke and suffers bad porpoising on anything but flat water and im thinking my outboards too heavy for the boats length its ok with my mrs sat in the bow but a little scary if im on my own . if your going out with a few on board it probably wont be an issue for you

nah the 380 has a 2 stroke 30.

im sure there are things I could do with glue and grails type products to improve its fish ability, like a combined rocket launcher and bait board at the back.

How did you go with the RIB? I am in Sydney and it sounds pretty cheap for our market if it's in good condition.

I was talking about the Aerotec. I The 30hp has to be worth $1500 to $2000 on its own and a registered trailer at least $500 and then the boat has to be worth something.

Of course everything has to do with condition.

SpearRib,

You can always make a hostile offer after having a close look at the whole package. What could be expensive for you could be cheap to others willing to pay the full price. If in mint cond, don't take to long to buy it as you could lose rope and goat..

Happy Boating
