6 hp engine will be enough for 3 people?

An inflatable boat about 3.5 meter with a 6 hp engine will be enough for 3 people scuba diving to go 3/5 km offshore?

Boat will be too small and engine too small for that number of people and all that gear at that distance. I think you need a 3.8 with 15 hp minimum to be safe and get on the plane

No it won't. The sib size is borderline, more importantly than length is internal length and beam, usable space.
15hp is the minimum you will need, but if it is 3 adults you will find a 20hp outboard will be much, much better.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

It's all been said, you need more space and more power.

Perhaps one of the guys that dive could give an idea of boat and OB size you need?

1scuba diver + kit = 2 standard passengers. So 3 divers is the equivalent in space & weight as 6 pax. This is assuming we are talking about minimal diving kit, single cylinders etc. On top of that you need room to kit up. For 3 divers diving offshore you’d need something around 4.5-5m SIB and a 30-40hp engine as an absolute minimum.

Diving where? Always good to put at least your country location in. Warm water vs cold water diving makes a huge difference in gear and weight. Drysuit vs wetsuit? Steel or aluminum tanks? Single or double tanks? Stage bottles and if so how many per person? Are scooters coming too? Always good to bring a scooter if the current is ripping so at least one person can make it to the boat.

I had a 4.2m Zodiac that worked for up to 4 divers with doubles, drysuits, no stage bottles. That was max capacity and it barely planed with a 40hp. A team of three divers (My preference) is no problem.

Our current boat is a 4.5m with a 6hp kicker that moves it along at 5mph.

Of note I have 75hp on my 4.5m RIB. Once you go over about 20hp a trailer is needed. A boat over 4m is a lot to handle, and a trailer is best. Assembling and disassembling takes a long time, and others can share their experiences, as I used a trailer.

What conditions you go out in, along with load dictates what size boat you will need.

#1 most important thing, is the best anchor you can get if you will be diving off an unattended boat. Use lots of chain, and oversize if needed for poor bottom holding conditions.
