6mth old Tohatsu 9.8 2-stroke on Ebay

**Shaft length alert.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325802463...&segname=11021

An amazing chance to get a 6mth old almost unused current model at about £450 off the new price and no commercial letterhead/dealer faff.

But... it's listed as a long shaft. The odd thing is in the photo below is my short shaft... I can't see where the extra length is in the Ebay one so it would be well worth asking the guy to measure.

As far as I knew the long models were easily ID'd as they have three anti-splash fins above the AV plate and they are equally and widely spaced (Google an image to see) compared to my two fins closely spaced.

I mighty be mistaken, perhaps the three splash fin ones are XLs but if the motor was of interest well worth asking to see a pic of a tape on it.

The 25" had 3 fins.

Hard to tell from a photo, a shortie will tape out around 18" - perilously close to the 20" that would suggest Long Shaft. The seller appears to be selling up on his WAFI dreams. Not sure what a long shaft would be doing on a sailboat - big tender praps?

Pushing a 23-25' yacht at a guess.

Good find Mr F.

Better get in there sharpish if anyone’s after one for their sib, as that’s definitely a short shaft.

Having said that, noticed a few nearly new virtually unused ones recently at similar prices which didn’t exactly fly of the shelves. Seems odd as vintage pre 2006 jobbies still seem to command silly money.

Not odd that the pre 2006 two strokes get better money. Some folk understand the law and respect it.
