Very strange.

If he is legit my opinions of build are;

1. its going to fall apart easily and could risk getting fouled on prop or cause someone to go over board.
2. The lights if not proper sectored lights are going to confuse people (as in two boats are crossing rather than one boat going away) and red light on for a night light could be mis interpreted as a crossing vessel.

Given the rotational advantage of that setup I wonder if there is enough flotation in that A-frame to stop it turning completely turtle??

Anyway wait till he gets the promised twin car headlamp power searchlights... that's night vision gone for about 2hrs for anyone in the area.

What a drama over some tubing to mount a light above head height, shall I just continue to use a head torch and hope any oncoming vessel is heading towards where I'm currently looking, or am I not allowed out after dusk?

Waterproof toddler cot mattress, very comfy! And you can even use it as a lilo

Re the longshaft on my 2.7 sib, when you got a 16 inch transom and huge 2 inch thick planning tabs a foot long under that a short shaft is not really an option, and following the 49kg 25hp use the rear tubes only just touch the water so without doubt this SIB can float a lot more than 49kg so up next will be a 30-40hp the 20hp the 45kg Mercury i last tested with the boat is to light for the boat and the huge tabs and long tubes keep the engine riding high lol.
If only honwave and sunsport had these same long planning tabs and longer rear tubes on their range of V floors a. . . everyone would be putting 20hp on the 2.7, 30hp on the 3.2 and 50hp on the 3.8, it might even stop the floors flexing on the 3.2 and 3.8 models!

I shall leave my A frame at home with my 20 and 25hp and just take my 4.5hp. . . . NOT lol. A frame, kenitic rope, rubber matting oh my god what a disaster awaits me on the south coast this weekend lol.

what does the election of trump have to do with this topic? Many SIB and other type of boat users don't have the option of a large metal A frame to mount lights etc. The fishing rod holders marketed for bolting on to SIB transom do not hold fishing rods securely, I do not want my fishing rod lying inside my boat! Now it's strapped to my A frame.

bizzarely most of us seem to manage... perhaps with a single pole. I use a stainless broom handle to get my VHF aerial up high, it cost less than your plastic parts and could easily have carried lights and been removable for someone with your ingenuity.

I don’t fly an ensign though - it’s only actually required when entering and leaving foreign ports.

Did you bolt the rod holders through the transom? I thought you had a phobia about drilling holes in transoms?

Broom handles are good, metal mop handles are better, but the 40mm waste pipes are only £1.75 per 1.75 meter trade.

Drilling holes through the transom is not a fobia of mine as long it's done correctly and with knowledge of the transom condition drill away do counter sink each side first though or you will splinter the ply wood. I will be mounting a dual band aerial mainly for better FM reception as well as dual band UHF VHF RX and TX.
With regard to the ensign i cannot recall the current maritime law, I'm sure one can fly it anytime? as long as flags are sized according to boat size which mine is, Just refreshed myself with the small boat lighting regulations. . My size SIB only need to show a single white light at sea, I guess that means showing port and starboard light is optional. I like the option of displaying port and starboard lights

You can fly the flag if you want to, but you don’t need to (I’m not aware of a size restriction but I’m not big on flags). If you are a strictly by the rules type You should probably read the lighting rules again - unless your engine is very small you are capable of >7knots.

Does anyone on here take a sib out at night?, I must be missing the point of this sibbing past time as I just go out on a nice day and enjoy zooming around for a few hours there is no way I’d go out to see at night unless I was on a ship with a proper captain at the helm
