Maltiboy - The worry beads are in the kit box!
JAHNO - I do requests all the time. I always have to do what 'The Boss' tells me.
Having got the bit between my teeth. I've added the oars and rowlocks now.....

Remember this thread?
Well I've been surfing the 'net this afternoon and came across this site about the tides in the Pentland Firth
Check this out:
http://www.caithness.org/pentlandfirth2/ click on the TIDES page.
Now I'm starting to think again......!

Well who would have thought that the original posting on the 20th January 2002 would have lead to a circumnavigation of the UK AND a trip across the Pentland Firth in my SIB?
It is also interesting to see that two of the people who originaly encouraged me ended up accompanying me on the trip - Brian Elliott and JK himself. Of course in those days I didn't realise that JK was a REAL person.
The SIB was fitted out with the compass and gps,as in the diagram, but the fuel tank was strapped in at the front to distrubute the weight more evenly.
So it just goes to show, be carefull if you suggest something on RIBNET!

Yes, and I supplied the bracket that held Garmin in place. Without this bit of kit the entire trip would not have been feasible....

D'you find your Garmin bracket works loose?
I have a similar GPS and I find that I have to tighten the swivelly bit up every 5 minutes as it works its way loose?
Any tips (other than glue), as I like to take the GPS off when I leave the boat anywhere.

Hi Whitingiom
I can honestly say that the gps bracket held the garmin12 in place perfectly. The boat took a good battering for 21 miles and the bracket did not move at all.
You are quite right Charles, your gps bracket was the star of the show. Thanks.

According to your boat map Keith, the placement was not as planned. Don't think I would let you build my next house?!

Ah Charles, if you check out the photo here http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2858 you'll see that I changed the compass and gps around so it was easier to read. You have been looking at the photo I posted when I first fitted your dtar gps bracket.
