advice and recommended kit for first trip out to sea.

Next week I am heading off to the coast with my SIB, a list of recommended safety kit and general advice for my first trip out on the sea.

There's some useful info here.

As regards the advice - watch the weather, a SIB that size has a limited ability to cope with waves! In my 2.7m, I find that the practical limit for enjoyable use is a F2/F3, and even then it needs to be in the shelter of the shore.

On a personal level, wear a PFD/lifejacket and carry a VHF or mobile in a sealed bag.

Enjoy.
