Aerotec 380 / Yamaha 8hp
My Aerotec 380 (3.8m), passed down from my father is now surplus. I am open to offers, please PM me to suggest a price.
Item descriptions:
Aerotec.
- 3.8 m long
- in good used condition
- no patches to tubes
- valves all work great
- one small patch on seam of inflatable floor
- some seams as per photos have been glued
- brand new launching wheels fitted
- bench and storage bag
Yamaha 8hp (either separate of with Aerotec)
This really is a renovation project engine, I bought all the primer and official correct paint, and a new propeller but doubt I have time to refurbish it. Mechanically it works great and was serviced in 2017, not used since. It is very “stiff” and needs living up everywhere to free up movement (I.e tilting engine up and turning it).
It’s a project so I don’t pretend it’s anything else, will take allot of work to get it looking nice. If it doesn’t sell as it is I will renovate myself and sell when finished. Paints and propeller cost over £200 so I would be looking for £400 as it is. Once renovated I would expect it to sell for £800-£900 ish.
Please PM for details!

To clarify price above was for engine, which needs some work to get movement back in the tilt function and turning the engine, slog with a bit of lubricant. The engine internals work fine and it starts and runs having been serviced last year.
Boat price, PM me with offers.

Hi Matt - because a) I don’t know what it’s worth and b) so I can gauge what people are willing to pay for it. Not like a car where you can just go on Parker’s guise or compare against many other cars of the same spec, age and condition ...

Plate suggesting it is a 1998 boat? We used it as a family inflatable until about 2001/2 when we bought our first rib, from then it was infrequently used as a tender.

Matt, after thinking further I suppose I can give an idea of what in my mind I think it’s worth, probably £900-£1,000. Gives a ball park.

Hi Fenlander, Matt H said it would be useful to have an idea so I have what I thought it could be worth as a finger in the air, not what the “advertised price is” (though I understand used Aerotecs are competing against similarly priced nearly new or sometimes new Honwaves etc, which do look nice I admit!) ... if I hear different I’ll listen to thoughts on value as I don’t know really. Hence I asked for ppl to PM me with offers, if offers came in different to what I very roughly thought it might be worth then of course that’s the market view so I’ll listen to those. Maybe it’s worth only £7-800 [emoji57]I’m not pushing a hard sell. As for the engine, it’s £400 as it is with the supplies to renovate, so probably in my mind I probably would have parted with the lot for around £1k if bought together.
Ultimately I’m testing the water (excuse the pun) but as it’s a nice little boat, if it’s not worth me selling I’ll keep it, renovate the engine myself sell that and probably buy a 20hp Suzuki 4 stroke which was my original plan, to have it as a convenient run around - it’s just taking up some space in my garage so thought I’d see if there was interest. I’ve put photos of everything up so if there is any interest then ppl can see it’s condition warts and all.

OK...
Your Aerotec is one of the very earliest as indicated by the 1997/8 serial no. and those grey cone ends.
It's glue is failing and will continue to fail so the potential is for a total transom and floor re-glue to make it safe. Also the glued elements of the floor construction are gradually failing too.
To properly repair that lot for another 5+yrs life would exceed the value of the boat if done by a pro... and it's beyond the ability of most DIYers. Also this time of year you'd need a heated workshop to glue properly and the humidity could still be an issue.
Not too long ago I bought an Aerotec of that sort of age to see if I liked the way they went. It came with a mint Mercury 10hp and once that was removed from the equation the Aerotec stood about £300 or so. I re-glued all the seam areas that were failing at that time (documented on here) so I had an air and watertight SIB I could take on holiday to the Scottish West Coast area for "do I want an Aerotec" trials.
The answer was yes so I bought a new one.
I sold the old one to a forum member so he too could have a chance to try an Aerotec at budget money to see if it suited him. The price was about £350 with genuine Zodiac HD transom wheels which had a used value £100/£150. So I valued the boat itself around £200-£250.... and remember at that time every problem area was newly repaired.
I think it lasted him a couple of seasons until many more glued areas failed and he bought a newer one.
I'm not going to put a value on yours but you can see where I'm going. For £900-£1000 you can buy far newer ones with perfect cosmetics... zero glue issues and no previous repairs at the time of sale.

Aerotec 380 / Yamaha 8hp
Thanks Fenlander, that’s interesting, though the seams that are failing appear easy fixes. ok so it’s out there on here that I’m willing to sell. If someone is interested let me know, there is no pressure [emoji23] if no one fancies it I’ll keep it, will be great as a convenient in the boot runaround. I’m confident some gluing where seem edges are lifting will keep it in use for many years, and if / when they lift again, glue them again, simple. I agree don’t think it would be worth sending it to a workshop - it’s a DIY job for sure, but a straight forward one.
Anyway, PM for any interest, all offers considered, worst that happens is I say no [emoji106]
