Anyone used a Seago 2.7m?
I'm looking at a Seago 2.7m airdeck as a tender. It's rated to 6hp, but I've just picked up a rather nice 8hp short shaft Yamaha for use as an auxiliary on the Ballistic (exactly the same as the 6hp bar the carb).
1) Anyone got any comments on overpowering it by 2hp?
2) Anyone know how small the Seago 2.7 airdeck will roll up or how durable they are? It'll be inflated on deck by an electric pump.

Nos...we've got a Seago 2.9m rated to 10hp but fitted with a Suzuki 5hp. Won't plane at all with 2 1/2 on board. Ours is rolled up at the back of the garage behind the RIB. If you can't get any 2.7 info I'll measure the 2.9 if you like. Let me know...
Difficult to see how an extra 0.2m can shift it up from 6hp to 10hp.
Haven't any comments on durability...only had it a couple of years. Quality looks ok, seems nicely enough made apart from the front storage bag which ripped on the first outing

Cheers. I've got 'package sizes' but it doesnt say if it's the box size or the actual rolled up dinghy size. It's rectangular so I'm assuming it's the box size.

bloody hell leapy i just noticed your from sheepy parva , dont know a good italian do you
i have a 3m boat rated up to 10hp but i use a 15 hp engine as the same model of boat in 3.1m can take a 15hp.... i figured that the transom plate would still be the same and my weight would add `ballast` to the front...i`m sure there must be a calculation out there....but figured i dont have to twist that handle

I ended up with a 2.9 Seago, just because it was cheap and for sale a mile from home.
It doesn't look too bad actually and it'll fit in the bow easily.

Next question...
It's an air floor with a separate keel.
What pressure for the air floor? Is it about 1 bar like the usual airdecks? I don't really want to pop it. There was no manual with it.

Nos...I emailed Seago that question (kieron@seagoyatching.co.uk). After a couple of nudges they said 2.5psi. The manual - let me know if you need a copy - says 3psi. Don't believe it, that seems well low. Been reluctant to increase beyond that though.

Hmmm - the QS is taking 6.X PSI in the keel. Hard to imagine that they're that different?

Cheers guys-I'm glad I didn't go buying a Bravo BST12.then-looks like my low pressure Bravo pump will do it.

Perhaps. The airdeck in the QS is 11psi, dunno about Seagos?

What setup is the QS floor? Is it a keel under a separate floor too?

Yup. The keel is loosely held under the airdeck. The pressure in the airdeck is very high to get the rigidity to hold the boat in the correct shape. It's fairly much as hard as a plank when in use. The pressures are critical if you intend to plane the SIB, so getting accurate data is important.
I've had 18kts in mine - it's not a format that inspires confidence at those speeds - helluva larf tho

I'm sceptical about the Seago 2.5psi (email enquiry)/3.0 psi (handbook) - these figures are for all round: tubes, floor and keel.
At that pressure the floor has the structural rigidity of a blancmange But, I don't want to burst it by experimenting.
