Sean as said here, there were at least 3 used areotecs for sale last year between May-Nov ish. Have a think about your options and when you want to get afloat, a second hand something that keeps its value might do for now, take the pressure off etc. Always nice to buy when you don't have too
As an aside, has anyone looked abroad for a new or used Bombard Areotec? France maybe??

So here you go Sean... in London and only came on 16hrs ago.
https://www.gumtree.com/p/boats-kaya...ine/1160986874
THE most crucial aspect is the age as shown on the serial number plate... but there are a couple of features that make me think it could be newer than many of those punted for sale last year.
Floor looks a good fit too.
Even if you only bargain it down to £1500 the engine will be an easy sale this time of year for £900+ so you've got the Aerotec as an absolute steal.
Get cash out of the bank and get over there this evening!

Thanks, left a VM already, cam you remind me, it's the last two digits that denote age ?

Hate to say one would be along before long in recent posts! They are not *that* scarce. That's good timing David, nice spot and looks a decent seller.
Floor looks very clean. And as so often with used boats they throw in the extras that can add up or be sold on to offset the purchase.
Main things to check on these are the floor seams all round (remove the floor and inflate to full pressure).
Under the seat mountings the bolts can chafe the inner tubes - most owners mod theirs with some reinforcement as a precaution.
And the usual tube to transom interface - make sure no peeling or suchlike.
Plus the usual checks all over the transom/floor/tubes/glued on fittings for damage.
Don't be put off by patches - if not done well very easy to rectify.

IF you give it a run so you can be confident it's a good one, polish it up and take some nice pics... then yes.... perfect time of year to sell on.
Yes last two digits are model year and previous two the build date code.
So XXXXXXXXB414 would be Jan 14 built 2014 model.

B = February.
4 = 2014 production year
14 = 2014 model year
A = Jan
B = Feb
C = Mar
and so on.
J415
J = October
4 = 2014 production year
15 = 2015 model year
People generally only pay attention to the last 2 digits.
ISO standards are nice, because it keeps all of this information consistent manufacturer-to-manufacturer.

Although I appreciate your issues Sean..I hope you dont mind me adding that a 36Kg weight package .. arrive at my door an hour ago. I only ordered it from down south yesterday dinner time too
It was a well wrapped box.. obviously never been opened before. I peered inside a wee bit concerned that I would find similar issues with my new purchase..as some of you guy's recent buys
Its now blown up ..sitting on the floor beside me.. and I have gone over every inch of it
Im pleased to say..Im more than delighted. The quality and workmanship is the exact same as days gone by.
Yup.."The Guppy" has arrived in "the Gurnard's" house.
I will give a first impressions post on a separate thread .. as soon as I get photos sorted and over my excitement..then I will spill the beans on my purchase...
But bottom line so far on first impressions ..for me .. is my purchase (not an aerotec) is as expected for a £2K boat

On my travels maintaining London's dusty properties I'm refreshing more than once an hour, better than telly. 36kg there's a clue...

The guy isn't free until tomorrow so I'll be looking then, hopefully yes
Am a little hesitant to buy such an old one (really wanted a newer one that would give me peace of mind) but this should do to give one a go

Yep, will post here Sean in reply to your PM but if it really is 14 years old (certainly does not look it?? - is that from the serial number) then check it over carefully as per my post a page ago. If all is well then it's a great buy and I'd rather buy a really clean well looked after older one than a manky newer one. Tempted myself as a spare but won't tread on your toes..
Regardless, if it is in good order then you will make money come sale time so there is nothing to lose.
Not sure what the engine being a 10 but him saying 13hp thing is about - Fenlander?

Yeah its from the serial number, spent most of its time in a holiday home in Cyprus, so not been used much.
I asked Fenlander about this engine, he said it was bull. I did some reading before asking him and apparently; they used to use the same block from the 8hp to make the 10 but moved to a bigger block (12 or 15) to make the 10hp. When they did this they called it a XR10 (branding thing) there seems to be some talk about it actually being 12hp online but I'm dubious of this, why would anyone make a 12 and call it a 10 !? maybe it has more torque or something.
