Are Quicksilver 380HD still in production?
I have been searching for a new Quicksilver 380HD but I can't find one for sale, are they still in production?
The nearest I can find are the SeaPro boats, are these a Chinese knock off?

No, I don't think they are. Closest replacement is the Sea Search, which is also owned by Brunswick Corp, who owned QS. Distributed in the UK by EP Barrus LTD
Built in erm.... China ?

Thanks for that, I suspected it may be the case. Looks like its going to have to be the Honwave, and a new one at that. They are going for silly money on e bay..

Your welcome. Im pretty sure Honwave is now also built in China, Seems the way all of the manufacturers are going I'm afraid. SunSport basically is a cheaper quality Honwave, in the same way Sea Search is to Quicksilver
Have a read of this, it may help you decide which way to go

The Honwave is a nice little boat and the new price is very reasonable.

Thanks, I found the Honwave for just under £800 delivered, so on balance I think I would rather go for that over the cheaper alternatives.
Watching them on eBay, a used boat around five years old is making around £500, I would sooner buy new for that.
Thanks again for the advice!

As the owner of a SunSport for a couple of years I'm interested to know in what way they are of a poorer quality to Honwave. They are both built in the same plant in China and look identical. The 3.2m version I have has the exact same spec as the equivalent Honwave. So what aspect of the boats are different other than the name?

Cheaper quality in the sense that although they may be built to the same standard, one says powered by Honda, the other doesn't, which gives the price difference.
Just the same as Selva and Yamaha outboards for example.

Better go for a new one, due to more UV punishment than before, glue dries faster than in the good old days, buy cheap & used and latter sib will begin to unglue parts...
All sibs brands are made in PRCH, with standard 0.9 mm Korean or German PVC fabrics, unless heavy duty specified to be 1.2 mm, the only difference is that reputed brands should honor their warranties better than least known ones.
All are assembled with parts manufactured from different providers, not really "made" and the better quality glue adds to the long live the sib lasting difference.

I must admit "Made in China" these days doesn't mean low quality... Some gear is made in very advanced all singing and dancing technology factories. Made in China... Machines to make the stuff imported from Germany.. Operated by cheap Chinese labour .. Highly motivated as well.. Apart from Foxconn lol. It's time we looked at the quality not where it comes from. Yes... Every country also pumps out rubbish for the lower end market. I like to have a good look over most stuff before I buy. These days China goods are catching up very fast!

Still no one seems to be singing the praises of their outboards yet which is a shame as they seems very reasonably priced.
