Article re setting SIB up for fishing and adventures

Hi folks

You may have already seen it, but this article may be of interest to newer SIB'ers and RIB'ers

https://issuu.com/motorboatowner/doc..._february_2021

You have to subscribe to read it, but it's free and looks quite a decent magazine.

Very interesting read. I just clicked on your link and read OK with no login.

I was puzzled by his stated weight of 33kg for a 3.7m with hard floor but seems this is just the boat and the floor plus seats/oars takes it up to 69kg which is nearer to a reasonable figure. I like a wooden as opposed to alloy floor. Wonder if that brand is Chinese or Ukraine made?

Interested in his choice of the single cylinder Selva 9.9.... very light 4-stroke at 30kg. Wonder how noisy/vibraty that is?

Maybe the login wasn't needed because I copied the link whilst logged in, cant see any harm in that though.

I think the boat is probably Ukranian, or maybe Russian. The importer, Specialist Small Craft, say on their web site that they import from Europe and I also read that the bow/rail organiser bags are from Russia.

Agreed about the Selva, although there are plenty of single cylinder motorcycles that don't have a noise/vibration problem. I have one. It is a good 20kg lighter than most multi cylinder bikes in its capacity class, quieter than my other bikes and no problem with using the mirrors . My Tohatsu 9.8, 4 stroke twin is 40kg. I would have been tempted by the lighter engine if I had been aware of it when I bought mine.

good weight that 9.9hp and price just over £1400, 10% owned by Yamaha 90% by the selva family worth considering.
