Avon 315 RAB (Rollaway Boat)

Hi Fella's

Does anyone here have any experience of this Rollaway Boat technology, it does not seem to have lasted as now it all gone "air floor".

I am thinking of buying a boat with it, and would appreciate anybody advice - good or bad.

Thanks

Ribtecer

I've got one

Pros:
Very durable & solid, compared with an airdeck. Makes good use of the inflatable keel.
Easy to rig, compared with a plywood floor.

Cons:
Heavy
Bulky
Not as solid as a plywood floor and you get a wave effect running the length of the boat, as it comes onto the plane.

Each type of deck has its advantages & disadvantages. This sits nicely in the middle and is a good all rounder. If you plan on removing the deck every time you use it, then a plywood floor is a better option. If the weight and size when rolled up isn't an issue, then it's a good fast way of getting a SIB onto the water.

A Viper, a Searider and a Roll up Rover, quite a collection you got there Dai...

Thanks for your reply.

I've got a Rover 310 with the wooden floor and are thinking of changing it for the rollup as it would be easier for me.

I wonder why they dropped the idea???

Thank again.

There's a couple of other little uns in the fleet, too.
They recently offered all 3 deck types as options. If your R310 isn't too old then you may be able to buy a rollaway deck to fit in place of the plywood.

RIBase
I've got one.

It's a bit heavy and some of the floor sections had come apart when I got it - and were a B****r to get back together.

Yes, there is a wave coming along the boat as you increase speed.

Nice and quick to rig and plenty of space inside. Nice big tubes.
