Avon Redcrest A4 valve replacement

I'm looking for some advice on replacing the A4 valves on an Avon Redcrest inflatable.

I've seen several other dinghies of this vintage with new Leafield valves installed using a large outer patch on the tube. Is it typical to also use an interior patch on the inside of the tube? Is just an outer patch sufficient? What is typically done in this case?

I'm planning on using some A7s from another dinghy.

Thanks.

Can't you just clean/change the internals?

Ribshop,

Thanks for the link, very helpful. So in your experience an internal donut patch is not necessary?

The valves do need two layers of material to seat properly.
