Avon Redcrest floor

Bit of a simple question for you all, Can I use it without a floor?

I made a ply floor but it makes it a little heavy, if I was just to potter about in a sheltered estuary etc.. could I go in it without the floor or would I do it damage?

Thanks in advance.

I used one for 16 years without a floor and it's still in use now....

Redcrest Floor

You don't need a floor, but without one it's like walking on jelly, and if you use an outboard, a floppy floor will cost you quite a lot of speed: as you turn up the wick, the floor tends to bulge upwards toward the stern and create a lot of drag. Even fitting a floor from the centre back will improve the handling and speed. It doesn't have to be a thick, heavy floor. 3/8" ply will be adequate.
