Avon Redcrest Value

Hi all, I’m looking at my budget for a new SIB this summer... aside from cash capital I’ve got my beloved Avon Redcrest with a (less beloved) 1990 mariner 2.5hp 2st. I’m considering selling one or both.

The Avon Redcrest is in great condition, but over 30 years old... tubes have no patches or leaks, outboard bracket was new last year, three part wooden floor in great nick, fibreglass seat for the stern, have original wooden oars and two part ali ones, new foot pump, new painter and grab lines.

The outboard is showing it’s age cosmetically, flakey paint, cowl only has a few small marks. It runs well, starts first time, I’ve had it professionally serviced every year that we use it and it’s always been flushed out after use. It’s probably been used on average for two weeks every other year for the past ten years since inherited it from my late uncle who used it for diving and fishing. Otherwise sits in a bag in a cool dry garage.

What would people pay for these? I have numbers in mind based on completed eBay listings but would be interested to know peoples opinions. Sorry no photos right now because I’m not with them.

Also, can I have a clean conscience selling this to someone who, like me, wants a small dinghy to explore lakes rivers and sheltered waters with slow currents with their young family? Are these old boats safe if, like mine, they have been well loved and looked after?

Look forward to hearing peoples thoughts!

Oh and for clarity I’m not selling just yet, but by all means let me know if you’re interested...! Boat is in North Somerset near Clevedon.

RIBase
There's always value in a old but sound Avon Redcrest. It's a perfect no-nonsense tender (rolled up on a RIB) given they are hypalon and generally wear well if maintained properly.

This is a good example, so anywhere from £150-£250. Sometimes splitting them is an option as the bracket is worth £30-40 on its own.

The outboard, then possibly £200-250. Once you get into 4-5hp and above the price increases as perfect auxilliary engine if long-shaft.
