Avon Rib Lite HP?

Hi guys new to the forum and looking to pick your brains.
Recently bought an Avon 260Rib Lite which says it’s rated to 8hp and 40kg on the transom. Is buying a 38kg 8hp fourstroke abit too ambitious or about right ? Ideally would like to be able to get two people on plane so thought 8 rather than 6.
Any input and experiences greatly appreciated!

I didn't spot this before.

A minty 2-stroke Yamaha 8hp at 27kg would make a great combo.

A 6 will be a bit lacking, an 8 would be better, down side is if you want new an 8 4 stroke will be a twin cylinder which adds weight & 2 cylinder 4 strokes are inherently imbalanced.
As fenlander say an 8hp two stroke yamaha is the way to go if you can find a good used one

Thanks for the replies guys, as it happens I picked up a 10hp Mercury 2 stroke which is 34 kg and a 8hp Yamaha which is 27kg both at really good prices. I know I should probably sell one but can’t decided which to stick with. There will only be 2 of us in it 99 percent of the time but I’m quite heavy 110kg so it makes me lean towards the added torque of the Mercury even if it’s 2hp over the boats rated power . I’m aiming to be sensible with it.

Having owned that Mercury model and also a 2-stroke of the Yamaha's weight I'd choose the Yamaha for easy portable boating where the boat itself is small.
