Avon SR5.4 : 90hp performance?

What kind of performance is everyone getting out of the Searider 5.4 w/ 90hp 2-stroke?

What prop, load, max speed, and cruise speed?

Approximates are okay...there's one for sale locally and I'm trying to convince myself it is what I want for the time being or not. The price is right.

About 40 knots.

We had a 5.4 with a 90hp 2 stroke mariner with a 20" laser II propeller. Got 39.7knots IIRC. This was with the transom slightly too short - had we kept the boat longer I think there would have been more to come by raising the engine a little.

That's pretty respectable.

Weight wise, was that solo operator + 45L of fuel + anchor setup?

Mine, two plus weekend gear or two plus surf gear and 18 gallons of fuel, Yamaha k-series 13.25 x 17 tops out at 43 mph.

Would have been 2 up
2 man jockey console.
Anything up to 100 litres of fuel
Small anchor and chain
Single battery
Light A frame.

It was an early leisure version that had the seats taken out. So, quite a light boat - I "think" the military boats may have been heavier.

All up it was less than 750kg including the trailer.

I have the military version. Pending on propeller, WOT is everything between 37,5 -41,5 knots.
That driving single, but always with all normal gear(anchor+ chain, tools, plenty of ropes, fire extinguisher and typically well fueled. Out of memory, think with the yam K series Ali prop 19 pitch, was abt 39,5 knots.

My cruising speed is, weather permitting, typically 28 +- knots, seams to move very easy at that speed. Fuel per distance is not much related to speed, don't notice any measurable difference on 22 vs 28 knots.
