Bargain SIB and Mariner engine - be quick

Another heads up for a *very* cheap package on an eBay BIN - just listed in the last hour so be quick fellow Ribnetters!

Honwave 2.8 + Mariner 8hp at £700 - listed as a longshaft but doesn't look it and the SIB would need a short shaft.

mariner eight 2 stroke long shaft, and honwave dinghy 2.8 m | eBay

Obviously buyer beware, pay cash on collection, don't agree to a Paypal deposit and all that as FB is not huge...

Sounds like it needs someone in the business to buy it, split it and marry the two bits to something more appropriate?

Now, who...

Same here Peter - otherwise I would have bought it, split it and pocketed the likely £400 - £500 profit!

Another good spot Max. Looks like a short motor to me too. Would just comment I think that model of Mariner 8 is where the 8/9.9/15 are the same weight so you might as well just buy a 15.

Wont get a 15 for that money and not with a boat thrown in ....

It is essentially a free boat at that price.

No of course not but I wouldn't carry a 15hp weight about for 8hp performance.

I'm going by the description of the seller who describes it as a long shaft. If he didn't know the shaft length I'd not buy it as I wouldn't trust he knew the oil mix either

Exactly, so if doesn't know the shaft length what are the chances he knows the oil mix ?

Some plonker's bid on it now so the BIN chance has gone...

Another nice outfit just appeared here (this forum could really do with a 'spotted, for sale' section! ):

I thought just the same, then I reflected that maybe its not such a good idea as there's always somebody who has their eye on a "bargain find" who is hoping nobody else spots it. We all have them on our watch list waiting. If it goes out to the masses then chances are the bids will flow in and then the auction will go silly. I put the ones up with B.I.N options as they will soon go otherwise so may as well be a Rib.netter but the auctions I leave as its just my luck that I'll post it up here and bugger somebody's chances of getting it on the cheap... Mine included
