Of course we would also have to be aware of wheels getting in the way of the outboard and thicker the spacers, the larger the the boat will be folded possibly

You could make the spacers fixed to the wheels & mirror the quick release fixings onto the spacers. So that the spacers come off the boat with the wheels. Keeps the bulk down for packing the boat up.

Very good point pd I like your thinking.......
The mounting back plate is so large, and I imagine so sturdy on these wheels, that the spacer could be on them rather than on the sib.
There might even be a way of removing the box section completely for something thinner or only have 4 shortish quick release connectors.
Ever little helps when packing this beast of a thing down (and to think I almost went for the Volaire 430!
Will of course have to re-design my transducer bracket a little, and decide if the drop, and the width of the wheels would be ok because of the splash guard bits....

I was looking for something else and came across these spacers. Thought they may be of interest to Volaire /T38 IE3 sibbers or anyone else who's transom is set back.

Steve so are you thinking transom with a through bolt, then spacer/bracket and have the brackets floating 25mm or so away from the back of the transom? I wonder if with 100kg+ it might push up or bend the bolts? Or am I wrong - not used a spacer like this before.

I’ve silicon’ed some painted marine ply as a permanent spacer on my recessed transom

Didn't give it to much thought as I don't need a spacer, but I wouldn't have thought that a 6mm bolt through a 6.5mm hole in an 18mm diameter spacer would bend.
Don't think you would be able to use the "Quick Release" wheels though.

I’m not sure about those either. A solid 1 piece packer would be more suitable imho.

I suppose it is an over thought solution to the problem of a set back transom, and a one piece HDPE or Ply packer is the simpler option.

I've got Trem 180kg wheels for my Zodiac Cadet 360. As some others have said they are a bit fiddly in operation but by swearing at them I can get them up and down from within the boat and they are solid when in operation. They seem to have increased in price by more than 20% from when I bought them 3 years ago.
I see that Trem do a set for Honwaves and similar hull shapes. They product number is 6-22007.

Yeh I’ve fancied the Trem wheels with the combo of bracket and ‘pin’ that slots in below when the wheels are down - are these like yours?
From what I’ve read on here they seem solid but obviously with the recessed transom I’d have to pack the brackets and the pins - lots more holes!
They Excel ones I have don’t seem to be much better than the last set I had - the brackets look like they are starting to bend a little already after not much use (and storing my boat on a trailer!)
If the Beachmaster types aren’t for me then I might have a go.

Yes, they are the ones I have. The only mod I made was to replace the hinge pin with a drop nose pin to make the wheels easily removable.
I think if you Google the model number in my post, it will take you to Trem's solution for a recessed transom.

Just FYI on these Trem wheels - according to some emails back and forth with Trem last year…
There are two types that are very very similar:
O0836094 were developed with Zodiac (for the Futura?) many years ago and hence called ‘Zodiac’
O0836080 was developed with Honda.
The Zodiac ones are 1cm longer apparently - other than that identical.

I see the latter on eBay, Chas Newens, Boxmarine etc. Beachmasters are better quality? 120kg seems to be the recommended total weight spec… my small Zodiac tiller control Rib and 20HP a little over that…. My main concern is the height/clearance, so reading this thread with interest.

l bought the copy ones at half the price and they are superb, really well made.

Hi, where did you get yours from? I've noticed on a couple of sites they say stainless steel frame, which I find questionable at £160.

Looks like there's a 40x40x40 box appeared under the Christmas tree with my name on it

Preparing transom for the new wheels.
Thought I'd prep the transom ready for for what I hope is my new beachmaster type wheels sitting under the Christmas tree.
Removed the existing transom wheel brackets and the transducer mount which I will probably need to reposition.
I'll then clean up the transom, remove any sealant, dowell and epoxy any holes that I can't use for the new wheels, then hopefully fit the new wheels after Christmas.
The pictures clearly show why the existing transom wheels and brackets are not up to the job.
They are so badly twisted and bent it's no wonder I could never push/pull Redneck in a straight line!

VERY interested to see how this pans out. My existing wheels are going the same way & will need replacing sooner rather than later.

Me too, hope it works out for your weight and size of boat/engine.
Steve looking at those brackets - mine are starting to go like that already and I’ve been gentle on them - my. Oat is stored on a trailer at home so the there’s not even any constant pressure.
The first set I had from Excel bent like your ones and more… in the end, the wheels were so out of parallel that one of the tyres was skipping on the concrete.
Good luck with the new ones. I’m still torn between trying the Beachmaster types and the big Trem wheels. But for £160 it’s worth trying for sure.
