Before and after (bargain) Humber sib

By this stage I had already cleaned the tubes, painted the floor, Dowelled redundant holes in the transome, and bolted the launching wheels through the transome instead of just wood screws into the transome.

Rather trhan bore everyone I will let the photos do the talking

For some reason my computer keeps locking out if I try and upload more than a couple of photos so will have to add more.

Gosh that is a bargain. Well done. Lovely looking boat and motor for that sort of money - I'm guessing you put a new prop on the motor, as it looks brand new? The motor alone could be easily sell for more than what you got the whole package for!

I'd possibly consider getting rid of the old fuel in the tank though, although 5 gallons is a lot to waste - if its been sat in there a long time then it might just cause you issues in future

I am very happy at the way it has turned out still work to do the rubbing strake needs alot of work to sort the places it has come unstuck and to clean the old glue off where its beeen over applied, you can see in the second photo along the sides of the strake, but that will have to wait for now.

Cheers Rik,
Your right it was a real bargain I was just "at the right place at the right time" as they say and that it was very badly listed as explained in my "Thoughts and Advice" thread.

Again your right about the prop (well almost) it is "new to me" but again another "ebay special" that I could not resist its a second hand 13" pitch at £33.00 delivered it does look brand new so I thought that even if its too highly pitched it will be a good reserve, the 1 that was on the engine is I think a 10 1/2 " pitch but in very good condition, I feel a up to Loch Lomond coming on very soon probably early September just to try it all out and see how the props perform.

The fuel in the can (was 5 gallons) I have been running down by running the engine in my wheelie bin just to get used to starting it and getting a bit of confidence in the engine/gearbox etc. so probably only about half of that left now so I will probably mix it with fresh fuel and I am sure it will be fine.

I bought a bargain humber sib too the guy on ebay messed up on the listing so I bought 2 5meter sibs one in very good confition the other had a huge hole in it that was only good for spares. I got them both for £50 yes that's not a 0 missing of the price I really did get both for £50. There was no outboard included but I bought a 40hp mariner for £350 so shold be plenty of power for it I am currently in the process of fitting transom wheels and painting the boards but I wanted to fit a spare cover to the front. Could you tell me where you got the material from to make yours

Thanks colin
