I’m going to phone them Monday morning to confirm the width. Then I’ll put my order in

This is the honwave
According to the advertised info boatworld is 3 inch wider, which is a fair bit in a small space but the honwave is 5kg heavier. I'd put that down to thicker material, rubbing strips, transom etc

Morning Tommy, I think that is the specification page for the old Boatworld 380.
The model that Jon is talking about and has taken pictures of, is the new Boatworld 380 V

Ah ok.
Apologies for any confusion.
I still think the honwave is a better build quality
I get the point though that Jon is after maximum internal space.

As an aside, did you buy your T32 from Liverpool Power Boats? How was their customer service?

My son bought his t38 a couple of months ago. It was on pre order but he still had it within the week.
My t32 was in stock, and it was on my doorstep 2 days after ordering.
All communication was with a girl called Emma, excellent to talk, email and deal with

Yeah good to know they are of a decent level at Liverpool Power Boats, not too far from me.

Regards insurance - a little hard to gauge because I'm adding my SIB to a policy that already has two sailing dinghys on it. But, with powerboat qualification and, importantly, just a 2.5hp outboard, it raised my premium by £32 quid when I added it.

Hi Jon, re: insurance

I think the majority use Craftinsure. My premium last year was around £60. Very flexible, good to deal with and more importantly, so I've been told by others, pay up if anything untoward happens.

I’ll save that about Craftinsure. Did a quick search and came out around £10 a month on a compare site. I’ll take a look at Craftinsure though.

Very interested to see the new boatworld V380. I have the Honwave T38 ie2 and love the quality. I have seen the boatworld copy in the flesh and in use and they are very good. I just think the quality of the honwaves will generally be better. If the boatworld one has extra space however that is very interesting.

I rang Boat World to ask them to measure the internal width, and it’s not 94cm like I’m sure the brochure states. It’s actually 82cm. That’s a let down!

Please see my post above. The brochure was wrong. Anyway, I agree the Honwave will no doubt be a better built boat, however, for me, the V floor and lighter boat wins it for now.

Jon B's Maiden Voyage

Not a bad day on Ullswater for a maiden voyage.

Thanks so much Steve. You’ve been a massive help throughout my boating journey so far.

It was great to finally get out on the water. The 20hp Suzuki didn’t disappoint. I’m sure it will perform ever better once it’s been run in and tweaked etc. The Boatworld 380v seemed just right for my needs. Easy enough to set up/put down on my own, with plenty of space to accommodate the wife and kids once they join me soon.

Hoping to get back on Ullswater this weekend with the family. I’ll try lifting the engine up 20mm or so using the packers Steve gave me.

All in all, a great day. Can’t wait for the next one.

I used this fold up launch trolley purchased from Germany. Seemed to do the trick. Folds up very small. Might add a tow hitch and a cleat to tie the painter on to.

Choosing launch wheels was too much of a minefield for a beginner. I just needed to get the boat out.

No problem Jon, it is a pleasure to help.

Finding the right height for the OB is very much trial and error. Find the best height with just you in the SIB, then find the best height with the family in. Hopefully they will be the same, but you may have to comprise to somewhere in between.

Enjoy your weekend out with the family. Watch your speed as I think the "speed police" will be out this weekend!
