Well, summer hols have arrived and the Futura has been dragged across to the west coast for rain and gales (so far).
Having studied the charts it looks like there are lots of opportunities for rock and island hopping here. So once the weather improves can anyone give me suggestions for family days out in the boat in this area.

Spindrift, Lismore can provide plenty of interest with ruined castles, seals and if you are lucky porpoise, as well as the scenery. various options for food depending on standard / expectations. BUT beware the tides around the south of Lismore kick up quite a mess and if the wind is blowing it can be "interesting" and if the wind and tide are fighting each other it can be "unpleasant".

Loch Etive provides shelter in many winds (but beware the falls of Lora).

Kerrera is rather pleasant and bizarrely quiet given its proximity to oban. Following the trail of teapots to the tearoom may entertain the family depending on their interests/ages!

If the weather is good then it really just depends how far you want to go - seil/Easdale, luing etc... have a look at some of the Gurnard's threads for all of this area as he includes both the details and some back story that can entertain the family....

We've just back from there we had a week and a half of rain and gave up and came home. There are loads of wee bits to go to though. We stay at North Ledaig caravan site watch out for the rocks as you come round the head land stay in close to the shore as there is a big reef that extends a fair bit out theres loads of islands to go to i like the one next to lismore with the shingle beach going the 2

Thanks folks, from the charts it looks like an interesting area with a few challenging tidal areas. I just need the weather now.
